Carrots of Venus



My Nanna's favorite Saturday lunch

This dish is a winner when I serve it for a romantic candle light supper.


  • 3 c grated carrot
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1⁄2 c milk (cream if you live near a hospital)
  • 1 c cheddar cheese
  • 1⁄2 t fine sea salt
  • ds of ground white pepper
  • butter for greasing the baking dish


Set your oven at about 350 degrees.
Beat together eggs, milk, salt
Toss together 3/4 cup of the cheese and all the grated carrot
Fold in egg mixture
Spread into a well buttered loaf pan
Smooth the mixture evenly with the back of a spoon and sprinkle the rest of the cheese over the top.
Bake the casserole until it bubbles and the cheese on top begins to brown.
